All about Mary
I am a Chinese medicine practitioner and acupuncturist, owner of ALIVE Holistic Health Clinic in downtown Toronto, and author of a new book, “Pathways to Pregnancy.” When I’m not trying to bridge the gap between Eastern and Western medicine, dispel shame, and provide hope and advice to those struggling with infertility, you will find me hanging with my family. My husband, four-year-old daughter, cat Fifi, and I live in North York. Our favourite things to do are to keep active, travel by exploring new places, have adventures, and eat great food!

Here are some of Mary’s favourite places to go in Toronto!
Terroni Adelaide
My “go-to”: Terroni on Adelaide for date night or at Yonge (Summerhill) for a family-friendly environment. Funky, casual and always tasty.
Brick Works
Brick Works outdoor organic food market, great little trails, a pond with frogs and turtles, an outdoor children’s learning and fun area. What more can I ask for?
Buttonville Airport
Perfect father and daughter date where they go almost every sunny Saturday (when I work) to watch little planes take off and land outside and eat lunch. Priceless!
Shops at Don Mills
Outdoor mall close to home where we can hang, walk around, have ice cream, go for a little children’s train ride or skate in the winter.
Hazel’s Diner
Mount Pleasant location. While my family orders the regular fare, I am able to eat a healthy, gluten-free eggs benedict with asparagus, bird’s nest shaped rosti on a bed of arugula. Yummy, fast, friendly, and great prices.
Asian Legend
Another favourite lunch spot , especially for Zoe, who asks to go every week to get her fill of soup-filled dumplings while I eat the vegetarian dumplings
Byblos
For a fancier, let’s get dolled up kind of date night, we love this chic, contemporary restaurant serving eastern mediterranean cuisine that will blow your mind.
Basecamp Climbing
Rock climbing gym fun for all ages. We went here for a kid’s birthday party and Zoe couldn’t get enough. Awesome for kids with no fear and lots of energy to burn. Maybe I’ll have to give it a go too sometime!
